Sad News - XperiaX10 Blog

Tej at XperiaX10 Blog posted his last post on the site. He stated that SE does not allow the use of Xperia on his site and is taking formal action on the site. I disagree 100% to their statement and it makes no sense as well.

The XperiaX10 blog worked hard to bring up to date information on the Xperia X10 and spread knowledge of the device as well. From the old firmwares updates with the Sony Ericsson software, to the root, to the custom roms, and the the bootloader. It was a a great site and only site to get all the info on our device up to date. I hope SE reconsiders their action and allows to blog to run as usually.

I wish Tej the best of luck on his future plans.

-I stated the blog, was going great, then crashed due to some issues. I hope to bring it back soon but I think I might be getting a email for SE soon = P. Have a nice day.

X10a 21A0435 Global Firmware

Hey guys this is the latest X10 SE firmware. In my opinion this is the best stock firmware that SE has released so far. There are some nice improvement and some noticeable eye candy. This is the X10a version but it wouldn't really affect you if you have a X10i device. You will have to enter your apn's manually.

The installation process is typical. You plug your phone while in flash mode.

After installing the firmware I highly recommended installing the latest Flash Tool. You can root, install JIT, install xRecovery, and other necessary applications with a few clicks. This firmware is root-able.

Some of the changes that I have seen are
-MediaScape is much much better. Much more touch friendly and stream lined. You also get more control such as which sections (most played, favorites, shuffle) to display on the main music screen. The library fonts are larger and the scrolling seems more fluid. Now there is dedicated player and library buttons. The best new change is the player. The player does not resize album covers, and overall looks great. It is the best looking Android music player. Now when you hold and swipe left and right your can seek through tracks. Another new feature is the new landscape player. Now you can have the player in landscape mode, but there is no way to disable this.

-Calender has a more professional function look now. When you select the month view you get a month calender and upcoming events on the bottom.

-Picture Viewing in MediaScape now get the hold and swipe zoom feature.

-Dual Touch is another big plus in this rom. Works well and is more fluid.

-In terms of performance I really can not say much since I modded my phone with all the performance tweaks. But it does seem more responsive. But there is a little bit of lag here and there.

Overall this is a must and I recommend you guys flash this firmware. There are probably more changes in this firmware but these are the noticeable ones that I found in a few hours use.

X10 Arc

Hey guys I recently read up on this site about the new Sony Ericsson Arc. To be 100% honest I kinda felt like crap in a way. Like the X10 was a mistake and that I was a test dummy for the SE. The device does look pretty nice, I mean by aesthetics. I am not really into the whole "super thin" idea but everything else looks nice. I definitely like the "metal" wrap around deign thing, like the Iphone 4. Besides that I really didn't care about the phone. Also the speaker is at the back and theres a extra  mic at the back too. So I am assuming that equals better speaker (more sound), and better call quality.

Looking at the pictures seems that the new firmware looks widget friendly. Theres a new media app, scrolling gallery app, and a MediaScape bar. Hopefully we will get that and rooted for our X10's soon.

Honestly I am not in the mood nor the financial position to dump my X10 and get the new one, but the Arc does look pretty nice. What do you guys think ??

MedisScape Shortcut

For months now I have been playing around with many music applications. The one that really attracted me with MixZing player but eventually it kinda lost its touch with its generic design. After I re flashed my with 2.1 for the 10th time I gave up on installing all of my previous applications on my phone. So then I stuck with MediaScape, for a week now I have been using it for all of my mp3 needs. MediaScape is pretty good LOL, same quality and sound level as the stock 2.1 music player but looks really really good.

My favorite feature of MediaScape is that its all touch friendly, you hardly have to use the hardware buttons unless you want to exit the app.The only annoyances that I have with MediaScape it is laggy in the menus, and that you have to click into too many different screens to get the song that you want to play.
  1. Have to wait for the home screen animation to load
  2. Then you have to go to more
  3. Then you have to swipe to "Tracks" which is a slow and laggy process
  4. Then you select your song
I found a easier way of getting the job done. Varies on how you do it but its all the same method whether you are using Any Cut, ADW/Shortcut/Activities, or Launcher Pro/Shortcut/Activities, etc.

So to get directly to Tracks in MediaScape just open the activities menu, then find MediaScape, and make a home screen shortcut for

com.sonyericsson.android.mediascape.refactor.activity.MusicCategoryActivity

This is what it looked like in Launcher Pro, the first box.

Select it then if you want you can select a name for  it and then place anywhere on your home screen. So when you select it it should take you directly to the Tracks menu, if not then just swipe to Tracks, hit back, then open the shortcut again. You can also choose the other menus as well such as genres, artists, etc.

So far no problems and it works perfectly, I hope SE revamps the next version of MediaScape significantly, pretty sad thou they are the ones that invented WalkMan and the WalkMan brand phones.

Hope it Helps

X10 News So Far

This is not new news but for those who do not know alot of great news has happened in the X10 world.

1)Custom rom have been developed and the 2.1 version is released as well. But beware there are some bugs and not all of the features work. You can download it here. Personally I am not going to download and install this until it is fully working. If you have nothing to loose try it out. I read around that it is very fast.
User Video Of Custom 2.1

2)SE released a video about how they will introduce multi-touch to the x10 in the beginning of 2011. I shall not explain any more, watch the video and it says it all. Please do me a favor and if you know someone that ditched the X10 because of the "lack of the multi-touch" please laugh at them LOL

When I heard this it wasn't a big deal but when I saw it a flash back of all the multi-touch posts ran in my head. I remember reading sooo many posts about how the hardware was thing and that, and how the screen digitizer and stuff is not capable. Well looks like the X10 is. I honestly feel happy that I didn't sell my X10, and I bet the value of it will increase as well.
Video of SE Multi-Touch

So its all great news for the X10, custom roms are coming out, keep an eye out for the Froyo one, and multi touch. I will update faster when new important events happen. Also X10 users dont worry about the new "X10 Replacement" the X10 will always be the best lol.

*Due to certain reasons I was unavailable to post this post when the news was fresh. I will try not to make this mistake again.

How to make X10/Android Phone super fast UPDATED

Here is something that I stumbled apon while reading online. After trying it out I have to say it is a must do for the X10. On the market there is a application called AutoKiller. PLEASE Install this application if you want your x10 to be blazing fast, lol. Unlike a task manager this works within android.

--MUST NEED ROOT--
-Go to your market and install AutoKiller

-After installing the application open it

-In the memory limits tab just enter
 Home app 150
 Content Provider 200
 Empty App 250

AutoKiller is more stable than the minfree... application and the values do not get changed when you reboot. You will significantly notice a different when you boot your phone. Once the application gets permissions your phone will be FAST.

You should notice an increase in speed. On my phone I always have at least 90 mb of free ram. Which is way better that the 30mb - 40mb i used to get. Apps open faster and operate faster as well. This is a great mod to do if you like to play games your on phone.

My Quadrant test with this and JIT 2.0 enabled was 716, with only JIT 2.0 it was 705. Not 750 but better than nothing.

Note
-This might stop TimeScape from auto updating, so if you use TimeScape I guess skip this
-For even more speed enable JIT 2.0 on your phone as well, check out that post here
-If you can not to get the new values saved "apply at boot" then hit "apply" as well then reboot
-Honestly I do not know what the numbers do but they made my phone fast. Please do not mess around with this app unless you know what you are doing. The app gives you a clear statement about this when you first open it up. Unless you want to spend an hour reflashing your phone and restoring your files by all means go for it lol.

WiFi Enterprise Connection UPDATE WITH QR LINK

Hey guys as you guys may already know our X10's can not connect to enterprise wifi's. There is no proper settings in the default wifi settings. This makes us unable to connect for the user to connect to Offices and University Campus's. Wi-Fi helper is not help it just mess's up out wifi config, and I dont really want to pay for wifi config editor pro :P. I have suffering 5 months until now. Now theres a new application called Wifi Advanced Config Editor by Marcus905.

Unfortunately the app is kinda of bare bones with no proper instructions, BUT regarding this issue I dont give it works and I found out how to use it lol.

First install it. If for any reason you can not find the app just comment and I'll link it.

Second now supposing that your at your wifi enterprise location, in this case a campus. Go to your wifi settings and try to connect to it. Just leave all the settings normal. The phone will scan, try to connect, then it will disconnect.

Now open Wifi Advanced Config Editor and wait a few seconds or a minute for the wifi connection to appear. Once it appear select it.

Now scroll down and select Enterprise Configuration.

Now this is how I got it to work.

-For EAP select PEAP

-For Phase2 select MSCHAP2

-Identity put your id. In my case my student id

-For password put your password. In my case I entered the password I use to connect to my campus's server.

Now press the back button and then press the home button. Now go to the wifi connection settings. Now your phone will try and connect to the wifi connection, and it will connect. Hope it helps.

Open your Barcode Scanner and scan this barcode it should direct you to the app in the marketplace
Notes
-Depending on your wifi connection you MAY have to enter in different information, but this is like the typical config.

Bricked X10

Hey guys if you have bricked your phone don't worry there are ways to fix it. I bricked my like 2 times cause (1) I used the wrong root update file (2) The reflash tool messed up my x10, i don't recommended it for Rogers users.

If you bricked your phone

a) you can do the step one of your root method. This will reflash it to the 016 or 026 firmware, depends on what method you use.

b)you can use the onimus method to get your phone back to its original firmware, here.

-Just remember to give your phone a rest by taking out the battery and waiting a few minutes. With constant flashing your phone can overheat and sometimes it will just shutoff or not turn on. Some users have reported this issue on XDA.

-Also your your right firmware/root firmware package, it will be less hassle in the future, trust me.
